The James Bond web site MI6 has reported on the rumor that Scottish actor James McAvoy has been cast as Ian Fleming (seen in above photo) in an upcoming film biography of the creator of James Bond.
Although I would prefer McAvoy to Leonardo DiCaprio, who is also set to portray Fleming, according to film industry gossip, I think McAvoy (seen in above photo), at 5' 7", is too short and far too soft to portray Fleming.
I think another Scottish actor, rugged Keven McKidd (seen in above photo), would be the better choice. Darken his hair and he would look more like the young Fleming.

Although Fleming did not engage in fist and gun fights like the hero of his thrillers, he was a "womanizer" much like Bond and he passed many of his personality straits on to his fictional character.

Fleming was a naval intelligence officer during World War II and he was a journalist before and after the war. He was a world traveler and he led an interesting life. Fleming's life should make for an interesting film.
